Standing here, on the only dock of Gustavus Alaska, are a couple of guests of Black Rock Charters back from a hard day of halibut fishing. This dock is where you depart from each morning and arrive each afternoon with your days catch of Fresh Alaskan Halibut and Alaskan King Salmon.

Believe it or not, this Alaskan Halibut measures approximately 88 inches in length, which is over 7 feet tall, and weighs 365lbs. Typically, these larger Alaskan Halibut are the females and it is nice to bring them up and take a picture of them from the boat and then release them. However, it is ultimately your choice, and it sure does make a great picture for your photo album entitled “Halibut fishing in Alaska”. |

And here is the man himself. Captain Josh Cozby with his first Salmon Shark that he caught off the coast of Chichagof Island. Also known as “the outer coast”. Along with Salmon Shark, Black Rock Charters also offers Ling Cod fishing, King Salmon fishing, and Red Snapper fishing on the outer coast.

A nice King salmon caught early in the season with Black Rock Charters. The King salmon season generally runs from May to June. Of course every year is different on how long the season lasts, but Black Rock Charters will do their best to find the fish that you are after. |
