My First Blog Post
August 10, 2006 on 9:54 am | In General Information |Hello World,
Welcome to my Blog for Black Rock Charters. This is my first time using a blog and as such I will probably make some mistakes. However, I will learn from them and plan to provide constant updates on Fishing in Alaska, how the Fishing Season is progressing, the number of Fresh Salmon, Fresh Halibut and other fish that we are catching. I plan to provide regular pictures of Whales that we see on our Whale Watching Trips. This year we have already seen numerous Orcas, Humpback whales and others.
The Fishing Season thus far has been very productive. All of my guest appear to be very happy; many of them are discovering Gustavus, Alaska for the first time. I know many of them will be back again very soon, to book another trip on one of Black Rock Charters‘ Fishing Boats.
Black Rock Charters fishing boats are named: Quicksilver and Minke. These Charter Fishing boats are in top condition. The Quicksilver is a 32′ Aluminum Boat, with enough horsepower to pull a Humpback Whale out of the water! The Minke is a fiberglass boat, which makes up for its lesser power with its unique interior and experienced Charter Fishing Boat Captain. I have written about these boats in my blog post Black Rock Charters’ Boats
Glacier Bay Alaska is still booming, the cruise ships never stop coming into the bay. It is very nice for Gustavus, Alaska and Black Rock Charters to be so close to such a major National Park. The National Park service has continued to improve the hiking and other activities in and around Glacier Bay National Park and Gustavus, Alaska.
A final few details about my fishing and hunting season this year in Alaska.
- Halibut - The largest Fresh Halibut the Quicksilver caught this year is 350lbs
- Halibut - The largest Fresh Halibut the Minke caught this year is 25lbs
- Salmon - The largest Fresh Salmon the Quicksilver caught this year is 45lbs
- Salmon - The largest Fresh Salmon the Minke caught this year is 35bs
- Ling Cod - The largest Fresh Ling Cod the Quicksilver caught this year is 25lbs
- Ling Cod - The largest Fresh Ling Cod the Minke caught this year is 35lbs
- Shark - The largest Salmon Shark the Quicksilver caught this year is 125lbs
The stats on the fishing this year in Gustavus, Alaska on board one of Black Rock Charters‘ fishing boats is very impressive. Without the experienced sport fishing guides that Black Rock Charters has this would not be possible. The charter fishing boat captains at Black Rock Charters are very experienced. They have all been trained in the best methods for catching Halibut, Salmon and other deep sea fish in and around Glacier Bay and Gustavus, Alaska. Sport Fishing is not just a hobby for these Charter Fishing Boat captains it is an adventure only few have had in Gustavus, Alaska.
Fishing Equipment
Black Rock Charters uses only the finest Saltwater Fishing Equipment. This year Black Rock Charters purchased brand new fishing rods and reels to be used on their Aluminum Charter Fishing Boats. Black Rock Charters also purchased new flashers for catching Fresh Alaskan Salmon and new weights for getting the deep sea fish: Fresh Alaskan Halibut.
For my first blog post I think that will be enough, you can come and spend more time with us in Gustavus, Alaska aboard one of our Charter Fishing boats. Or you can come and spend time Whale Watching; the Orcas and Humpback Whales are in and around Glacier Bay so there is no better time then now for a visit.
